I’m a special education teacher and I have found a passion for teaching students with emotional and behavior needs. I fell in love with a teenage boy at the age of 16, who would later join the military. I could never image where that love would take me.

I met my husband, Andrew in Mrs. JoDon’s 5th grade classroom. When I was in the 5th grade my stutter was at it’s worse – I would get these “blocks” in the middle of the word where no sound would come out. Early in the year, there was this boy who was making fun of my speech, Andrew and (his friend) Beau came to my rescue and defended me. From this point on, our friendship was solidified. During our sophomore year of high school, Andrew asked me to be his official girlfriend. Our relationship grew very serious during our senior year when the discussion of Andrew joining the United States Air Force was brought up.

Fast-forward about two years and he was asking me to be his wife. I knew that when I said yes to his proposal that the military would force our hands in many life decisions. Looking back, I had no idea what that would entail. Not only would the military move us away from our families in small town Ohio, force different shift changes (at all hours of the day), but it would also separate us, via a deployment for six months out of our first year. Andrew truly loves his job. The Air Force has not only pushed Andrew to be a better man, but has also pushed me beyond my comfort zone.

We have spend the last (almost) 5 years in Charleston, SC. For the past seven months we have been preparing ourselves to leave the south and venture across the country to Anchorage, Alaska. I have created this blog so our friends and family can see Alaska and our trip through my eyes.
